TPE105 - Get Well Wishes

After seeing the sketch challenge over on The Pink Elephant Blog this week, I had to play along!  Love this sketch!  It's one of those sketches that gives me a chance to play with patterned paper. I chose paper from My Mind's Eye "Life of the party" paper pad.

I did some paper piecing on the MFT Pure Innocence Because You're Special image, colored her with copics, cut her out and popped her up with dimensionals.  I decide to put my sentiment into a frame and "hang" it with a brad and some twine.  Here are the copics I used:

And here's the sketch:

UPDATE - This card was a challenge winner!

Grills Gone Wild

Squigglefly is sponsoring this week's challenge over on the Craft Us Crazy.  As a brand spankin' new Squigglefly Design Team member, I had the honor of being the Guest Designer for this week's Craft Us Crazy challenge which is to create a project with a summer theme and / or a red, white, and blue theme.  I chose to combine the themes to create a card.  Since the Squigglefly Design Team is made up of bunch of hilarious women, I wanted to add some humor to my card so here it is:

HA!  I printed that sentiment from my computer.  I chose Squigglefly's Kiss the Cook digital image for my card.  I colored him up with copics.  I envisioned gingham papers for this card.  I didn't have any on hand and I was, well, too lazy to head to the craft store so I stayed right here on my butt and decided to try out some digital paper for the first time.  I bought this Gingham Goodness Digital Paper Pack from Trixie Scraps Designs.  Oh boy!  I can see myself becoming hooked on surfing the net looking for fabulous digital papers now.  That was TOO easy! Anyway, I am honored to have had the chance to represent Squigglefly and to play along as a the Guest Designer for the Craft Us Crazy Challenge!

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge #56 - red, white, and blue

Wedding Invitations

I have the honor of creating our sitter's wedding invitations for her upcoming wedding this October.  Her colors are black and cream and the flowers will be in pretty fall colors.  She wanted invitations with a pop of color and so here is what I've designed for her using the beautiful flowers from the Verve Stamps Great Friend stamp set:

Here is a close up the invitation (and no worries......she is cool with the details of her wedding being shown here online):

Here's a closer look at the Reception card:

Here are the copics I used:

SSS114 - Peek-a-boo, Lori Boyd!

I own so many cute digi stamps designed by Lori Boyd so I was was SO excited to see that the one and only Lori Boyd is now one of my blog followers!  So, I had to pay homage to her and post a card to say hello!  Lori's challenges were one of the first challenges I won which gave me courage to enter others and I have come so far since then!  In fact, I am announcing more exciting news soon so stay tuned!   I used the Sweet Stop Sketch #114 for inspiration for my nod to Lori Boyd and I used her sweet Peekaboo Baby digi stamp to play along.

I added some yellow Stickles to centers of the little flowers and Spica pen on the large flower.  I paper pieced  the flower pot and colored it with copics to add shading.  I colored the pearls with my copics as well to match them with the card.  Some ribbon, baker's twine and a button finish it off.  Here are the copics I used:

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully Lori will, too!

PTI June Blog Hop

It's an inspirational challenge for the Papertrey Ink June 2011 Blog Hop!   It's fun to blog hop and see all of the different interpretations from this inspirational photo:

I have color blocking on my brain after the recent CAS-ual Fridays challenge and that shelf triggered the thought in my noggin.  I used my SU pastels to create a soft wash of rainbow colors and those pretty pegs made me think of buttons.  Here's my take on it:

I will admit that a CAS style card is not my preference to create, but this inspirational photo screamed CAS card to me.  I am always left questioning the end result when I make a CAS card.  I almost didn't post it.  Still scratching my head wondering if I like it or not.  Hmmmmmmmmm.

Stamps:  PTI Birthday Bash Sentiments  Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black  CS:  PTO white, black, new leaf, pure poppy, summer sunrise, and lemon tart  Tools:  SU pastels Accessories: Baker's twine, PTI buttons

VLVJune2011wk3 - To the moon & back

Back again to post my Viva La Verve June 2011 Week #3 Sketch Challenge entry!  Don't you just love when a card quickly comes together?!  I knew I wanted to use the Verve Stamps To the Moon stamp set.  When I saw that panel behind the circle, I immediately thought of sky filled with the moon and stars and things quickly came together from there.

Stamps:  Verve Stamps To the Moon   Ink:  Momento tuxedo black, SU summer sun, Ink it Up metallic silver  CS:  PTI kraft, white, black, spring rain  DSP:  Bo Bunny mellow yellow polka dot  Tools:  Martha Stewart border punch, 1.75" circle punch, 2" circle punch

VLVJune2011wk4 - If friends were flowers.....

Friday means it's time for another Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge!  I just realized that I never played along with week 3, but before I go back to that, I wanted to post my entry for this week.  I got the Echo Park Summer Days 6x6 paper pad this week so I wanted to use these pretty papers.

I chose the flowers from the Verve Stamps Many Blessings stamp set and paired it with is pretty sentiment from the Verve Stamps Dream Big stamp set.  I colored the flowers with the following copics:

And here's the sketch:

Now, I am off to work on a card for week three!  Did you know that if you play along with all of the challenges for month, post your entries in the VLVJune2011 Gallery, and then linked up in the VLVJune2011 Sketch Champions thread by midnight on June 30th, that you are eligible for a chance to win the entire next Verve release?!  How great is that?!  If I don't win, I will treat myself to a new Verve set anyway for my efforts.  :)

Stamps:  Verve Stamps Many Blessings, Verve Stamps Wish Big  Ink:  Momento Tuxedo Black  CS:  PTI kraft, white, rasberry fizz, hawaiian shores, harvest gold  DSP:  Echo Park Summer Days Tools:  Nestabilities ovals and labels 1, copics  Accessories:  PTI jute, button, rhinestones

SNSDC8 - Summertime reading

Woot! Woot!  It's Friday again!  Oh, how I DO love the end of a work week!  I get to hang up my Social Work hat, put on my crafting hat, and morph into "Nertie McGertie" which is what my husband has started calling me since I became addicted to paper crafting.   :)

Friday means it's time to play along with the Sweet 'N Sassy Digi Challenge and this week is my favorite kind of challenge........a SKETCH challenge!  Yep, take note all you fellow sketch-o-holics!  If you haven't played along yet, now is the time to jump on in!  Don't forget that you must use a Sweet 'N Sassy digi stamp to play along.  This week I chose Milton's Good Book digital stamp for my image.

The base of the card is PTI kraft CS, but all of the other CS, DSP, and ribbon  is from the TE June 2011 Key Ingredients Kit.  The sentiment is from the MFT Clearly Sentimental About Books stamp set.  I colored the image with copics and added yellow and orange peel Stickles to tof the flower.  I added some shimmer to flower petals with a clear Spica pen.  Here are the copics I used to color the image:

And here's the sketch:

Now it's your turn to play along!  Hop on over to the Sweet 'N Sassy Digi Challenge blog to check out my fellow design team members cards for some inspiration and then show us what you've got!  Looking forward to seeing your creations!  Happy weekend!

Gift Card Holder for Teacher

Tomorrow is my kids' last day of school.  My son's 1st grade teacher me she was looking forward spending her summer in a lounge chair with a book on the beach.  So, I thought THIS CARD that I made last week would be perfect for her and we are giving her a gift card to Barnes & Noble.  I could just slip the gift card right inside the card, but what paper crafting addict would do such a thing?!?!  This gave me an excuse to make a cute gift card holder for her as well!  It is made out of an A2 envelope.

Here is a picture of the inside:

That little flap lifts up and the gift card gets inserted in there.  That prevents it from falling out and being lost in my son's back pack!  Click HERE for my tutorial on how to make these gift card holders.

I used the PTI Teacher's Apple and School Time stamp sets to make this.  The CS is PTI black, white, pure poppy, and simply chartreuse.  The ink is PTI fresh snow, SU real red,  and Color Box moss green.  I used 2" scallop circle punch, a 1.75" circle punch, and a .5" circle punch.

Hello Friend

I love getting up at the crack of dawn while the house is still quiet and the chaos of the day has yet to begin.  It is my favorite time of day to get some crafting done.  This morning I decided to play along with the Ribbon Carousel Challenge #8 which is to use your favorite coloring medium (Copics, of course!) and I combined it with the Saturday Sketch Challenge #160.

I used this cute digi image by C.C. Designs called Cherry Emma and decided to let her sit on the bottom edge of the oval panel so that her legs could dangle.  Here are the copics I used to color the image:

And here's the sketch:

Stamps:  C.C. Designs Cherry Emma, sentiment from Verve Stamps Hope Blooms stamp set  Ink:  SU Rich Razzleberry  CS:  PTI kraft, white, ocean tides, and scarlet jewel  DSP:  My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky

Color Blocking AGAIN

So, just yesterday I posted THIS CARD and was proudly blogging (AKA "bragging") about how I was typically able to combine no more than 2 challenges, but I somehow successfully combined 5 challenges. So much for being ambitious!  I received a very polite email from Michelle Gross regretfully letting me know that my entry had been deleted from the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #7.  I missed the rule that you can combine no more than 4 challenges when submitting an entry to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenges.  Sheesh!  The ONE time I manage to pull off combining multiple challenges, I get the boot!  Well, I'm back at it!  Michelle was kind enough to encourage me to find the time to play along again so here I am and THIS time I am combing the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #7 with ONLY the CR84FUN Color Challenge #32.  No rules broken this time!  :)

Card for my Dad

We are hosting a big Father's Day Cook Out today and I have been caught up in the preparations.  I reserved my morning for time to make my Dad his Father's Day card while sipping on a big 'ol cup o' coffee.  I printed the sentiment from my computer.

And here's the inside of the card:

Hope everyone has Happy Father's Day!

This is definitely my record. Typically I am a mono-challenge kind of girl and when I am feeling bold, I will attempt a duo of challenges.  Today I woke up feeling fruity and successfully combined 5 challenges and such a bright and cheery birthday card is the result!  Hooray for WAY too much coffee this morning!

I am entering this card into the following five, yep, FIVE challenges:

Clean & Simple Stamping #145  - sketch challenge
Ribbon Carousel Challenge #7 - incorporate music
Crazy 4 Challenges #92 -  add twine, floss, or string

Update:
This card was chosen as Top Spool at the Ribbon Carousel!

June SFYTT - Moka Jenn

So I just received a box of goodies in the mail today from Taylored Expressions and I couldn't wait to to ink up this way too cute Moka Jenn stamp set.  I cut a little slit along the edge of her gift bag to insert some cello paper for added dimension. It is hard to see it in the picture.  I used some pretty patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky 6x6 paper pad and paired it with PTI white and kraft card stock.  That pretty pink ribbon came in my TE June Key Ingredients kit.

Here are the copics I used:

and here's the sketch:

SNSDC7 and FM11 - Ready, set, recline!

It's Friday!  It's Friday!  Let the weekend begin!  Kick it off by playing along with the Sweet 'N Sassy Digi Challenge!  There are only 4 MORE DAYS until the official start of summer and we are celebrating that with a summer themed challenge!  I chose this oh so pretty Sweet 'N Sassy Ocean Paradise digital stamp to play along with the challenge.

I printed the image a second time onto the patterned paper so that I could paper piece the umbrella and have it coordinate with the patterned paper I used on the card.  Here are the copics I used to color the image:

Now it is your turn to play along!  Remember, you must use a Sweet 'N Sassy digital stamp to play along.  You can use your Sweet 'N Sassy clear stamps only if the image is also available as a digital stamp as well.   Hop on over to the Sweet 'N Sassy Digi Challenge blog to see my fellow design team member's fantastic creations for some inspiration and then show us what you've got.  Happy summer!
