Well, today is a fun day for me because my worlds are colliding! I am proudly designing for both the Ribbon Carousel AND Paper and Such this week. It's a joint challenge! Paper and Such is sponsoring the Ribbon Carousel challenge!
Suzanne is challenging us to use NON-Traditional colors for our creations. Making a valentine card? How about NOT using red or pink, or not too much of it anyways? Creating a gorgeous winter scene? Try it with creams instead of whites. Whatever you’re making….try a non-traditional palate as a challenge!
Remember, this is a JOINT challenge (One challenge, two sponsors on two challenge sites, twice as many chances to win) with our amazing sponsor this week, the fabulous Paper and Such!
Paper and Such is an online store that just opened in May of 2011. Shortly after opening, we decided to begin our own stamp line, and it's been nothing short of exciting. Our stamps are clear photopolymer, and are made right here in the USA! Our HOT SHOT line is a line of chicken stamps - if you haven't seen them, be sure to check them out. We are constantly adding to our stamp line, and love to hear what our customers want.
Paper and Such will be giving one lucky randomly drawn participant a $15 gift certificate to their store! And…..RibbonCarousel.com is sponsoring our challenge this week, so there is twice as much inspiration and twice as many chances to win! And yes, you can enter your creation here AND at the Paper and Such challenge.
I decided to do a Valentine's Day card in non-traditional colors using the Paper and Such Wild Rose stamp set :

I decided to do a Valentine's Day card in non-traditional colors using the Paper and Such Wild Rose stamp set :
I used one of the stamps to create some DSP and I colored in the flowers with copics using Y21, YR23, and the leaves with YG97, YG95, and YG93. I stamped the sentiment from the Wild Rose stamps set in Momento tuxedo black ink. The CS is PTI harvest gold, black, and white. I added some yummy black vintage seam binding from the Ribbon Carousel. I added a few black rhinestones to the centers of the flowers and to the bottom corer of the cards for some bling.
We'd love for you to join us this week! Here are the details:
- Make your NEW creation following the ribbon carousel challenge of the week. Any submissions made prior to the challenge date will be deleted. Be sure to include some type of ribbon, twine, hemp, lace....basically, anything that comes on a spool.
- Load your creation up onto your blog or a public viewing forum like Splitcoast Stampers, (use the keyword RCC37) with a direct link back to THIS post. Including the challenge graphic isn't a requirement, but sure is appreciated! (A participant of our very first challenge didn't link back or mention our challenge and couldn't be named Top Spool, so don't let that happen to you!)
- Hop on over to the Paper and Such Design Blog and link up your card there, too, for an additional chance to win! Use keyword paperandsuch if you use a Paper and Such image when uploading to SCS or any other online galleries.
- Come back the Friday after the challenge ends to see if YOU are a Top Spool!
Now hop on over the Ribbon Carousel Challenge blog to see what my fellow Crewmates have created for this week's challenge!
